Hey there, what’s the costume for?
Step out - let me see you
Now why is it you hide behind
The mask that isn’t you?

Foolish girl - the time will come
And every truth be known
How will you face that moment?
How will you face that person?
The one you’ve known

since you were born
Who slept with you
And woke with you
To greet the morn
Who stood beside your every whim
Who cried and laughed
Through thick and thin

Now step outside
Relax a a bit, won’t you?
You’ll like that power
Now don’t you feel relieved
That you are you and no one else

Brave and bold you stand up strong
You never thought you could

And you can face those people
Although you may be different
Why suddenly your voice is strong
You speak your mind
And talk your heart
You’re ten feet tall
Compassion plays a brand new role
And face to face
You’ve reached your soul

Throw away that shimmering
That glimmering of gold
Tell it as it is - let truth be told
Stuck amongst pretenders?
No, you do not have to be
Look into that mirror and say
“I like what I see”

I see the person in me
Coming through
Reality breaking through
With ups and downs
With smiles and frowns
Unique in every gesture
Emotions that are true

Why must we lie
To impress another person
Why must we talk
In a riddle with no clue
Why must I feel
That you’ll like me one drop better
If I wear a mask just like you?

Throw away that shimmering
That glimmering of gold
Tell it as it is - let truth be told
Stuck amongst pretenders
No, you do not have to be
Look into that mirror and say
“I like what I see”

I see the glimmer face
I see the mask slipping away
I see myself and I see you
The picture that we see is true
